Product Review

When it comes to my personal media devices, one product I feel I could not live without is my iPhone 7-plus.

When the iPhone 7-plus was announced a little over a year ago, it seemed like the perfect phone for me. Mostly due to the fact that it has 4K video record capability, which is perfect for a young filmmaker to have at any given time. Since, I have never bought the, “higher-end,” model of the current iPhone; I decided to splurge and get the most expensive version of the iPhone 7-plus when it finally reached store shelves. I love the dual camera lenses with 4K capability. However, what I enjoy the most is the mass amount of internal storage my phone has. My phone has 256 GB of storage space, meaning I will never have to worry about storage on my phone EVER AGAIN.

Storage is probably the most important thing that I need, I have many apps that I use on my phone, and most of them take up a lot of space. Previously, I would have to choose which apps I enjoyed or needed the most and delete the others. This would sometimes be an inconvenience to me. Many of the apps that would end up on the cutting room floor, were video streaming apps.
Originally, I never kept a video streaming app on my phone (unless I was going out of town with my laptop) because they took up too much space. Now, I have nine different video streaming apps on my phone, without hardly making a dent in the storage space.

The apps I use are Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, FilmStruck, Crunchyroll, PS Vue, Tubi TV, YouTube, and Pluto TV. What is probably the nicest thing about the apps is that if I want to move over to my large home TV, I can just close the app and turn on Netflix, Hulu, etc. on my TV and pick right up where I left off. PS Vue is an app where I can watch live TV using my PlayStation network account. Tubi TV is an app that will let you watch free movies, and Pluto TV is another live TV streaming app, but with more unconventional channels.

Though, I don’t watch video more on my phone than I do on my big TV (for obvious reasons) I am constantly on the go and having the convenience of being able to access any of my video streaming services whenever I want. Over the summer, I used streaming services a little more than normal when I made trips to Dallas, Texas and worked for several comic book and media conventions. During the downtime, it is nice to be able to pull out my phone and have access to the whole world at my fingertips.
